A concerned resident has petitioned the Lagos State Police Command over the alleged murder of a 90-year-old man, Mr. Idris Salami, at his residence in the Abaranje area of Ikotun, Alimosho Local Government Area.
According to eyewitness accounts, Mr. Salami was attacked by unidentified assailants at his home, located at No. 32 Popoola Arandun Street, on April 2, 2025. The attackers, believed to be members of a gang, reportedly gained entry to the house under the pretext of searching for an unidentified individual before launching a deadly assault.
One witness, Olamilekan Sulaimon, who later reported the incident at the Ikeja Police Station, described the attack as premeditated and executed with dangerous weapons. He stated that efforts to save the victim’s life were unsuccessful, as Mr. Salami was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
In a formal petition submitted to the police on July 7, 2025, Sulaimon urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
He also took an oath at the Ikeja High Court in support of his plea for justice.
The petitioner is calling on both the police and the judiciary to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book and that the family of the late Mr. Salami receives justice.
As of the time of filing this report, the Lagos State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
