Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested three suspected cultists during a targeted raid in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest on Thursday, stating that the operation was carried out on Wednesday by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) following credible intelligence.
According to Edafe, the suspects were apprehended near the Campus Three main gate of the state-owned university in Abraka.
“On July 30, 2025, operatives of the command’s RRS, acting on credible information, stormed a criminal hideout at Big Gate, Campus Three, Abraka. Three suspects were arrested at the scene,” he said.
Recovered items included a fabricated Beretta pistol with four live rounds of ammunition, a black cap with the insignia of the Eiye confraternity, and a battle axe.
The suspects reportedly confessed to being members of the Eiye cult group and are currently in custody as investigations continue.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, urged parents and guardians to caution their children against involvement in cultism and other criminal activities.
He also encouraged the public to promptly report suspicious behavior to law enforcement agencies.
