Two suspects have been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 26-year-old Nigerian man, Ayowale Aladejana, in New Cross, southeast London.
According to the Metropolitan Police, 23-year-old Ben Wazabanga of Fairfax Road, Bedford, has been charged with murder and possession of a knife.
He was remanded in custody and appeared before Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 4.
Also charged with murder is Ronique Belfon, 23, of Morinsbury Road, Bedford.
She was similarly remanded and appeared before Westminster Magistrates’ Court the same day.
The investigation began after police were called to a residential address on Monson Road at 7:26 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, following reports of a man with stab wounds.
Officers responded alongside paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, but Aladejana was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem examination conducted on Sunday confirmed that he died from a stab wound to the chest.
Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, who is leading the investigation, expressed sympathy for the victim’s loved ones.
