The Anambra State Police Command has arrested six suspected cultists, including a woman, during a raid on a criminal hideout in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement on Wednesday that operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad in Enugwu-Ukwu carried out the operation on Tuesday following credible intelligence.
Ikenga said the team recovered a fabricated Beretta pistol without a magazine and quantities of illicit drugs, including crystal methamphetamine, locally known as Mkpuru Mmiri.
The suspects were identified as Olisaemeka Izuchukwu, 21; Isioma Chisom, 22; Chinonso Izuchukwu, 20; Chinaza Isioma, 24; Onyekwelu Miracle, 19; and Mrs. Chinenye Eloka Okeke, 35.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives for the swift action and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling cultism, drug trafficking, and related crimes in the state.
Ikenga added that the suspects would be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
