Dangote Cement Plc has pledged full support for Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Josephina “Phyna” Otabor, after she was involved in a serious accident with one of the company’s trucks in Auchi, Edo State.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, barely a week after Ms Otabor graduated from Auchi Polytechnic. Eyewitnesses said the truck ran over her leg before it was stopped by a bystander. She later underwent an amputation due to the severity of her injuries.

According to witnesses, the truck driver attempted to flee but was apprehended.

It remains unclear whether the victim was on the roadside or in a vehicle when the accident happened.

In a statement on Thursday via its official X account, Dangote Cement confirmed the accident and said senior company officials, alongside its insurers, had visited the victim and her family at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.

The company said it was committed to covering her medical expenses and providing appropriate compensation in line with its welfare policy. “Our thoughts remain with Ruth Otabor and her loved ones, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery,” the statement read.
