Iranian authorities on Tuesday carried out the public execution of a man convicted of killing four members of a family during a robbery in Fars Province.
The convict, whose name was not disclosed, was hanged in the town of Beyram after the judiciary’s news outlet, Mizan, confirmed his role in the October 2024 killings of a mother and her three children.
According to the report, the man and his wife were arrested and later sentenced to death in February 2025, a ruling upheld by the Supreme Court in April.
While the man was executed in public, officials said his wife’s execution will be carried out inside prison at a later date.
Iran, which Amnestyk International says has one of the world’s highest execution rates after China, prescribes the death penalty for crimes such as murder and rape.
Public executions in the country are typically conducted at dawn by hanging.
