The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has dismissed reports circulating on social media that its Managing Director, Ali Nuhu, is dead.

The rumour, which first surfaced on Facebook, claimed the veteran actor and filmmaker had died in a car accident.

The post, accompanied by a video, quickly gained attention before being refuted.

In a statement issued on Monday by its Director of Public Affairs, Brian Etuk, the NFC described the reports as “false, malicious and injurious.”

The corporation confirmed that Nuhu is alive, in good health, and actively carrying out his duties.

“The attention of the Nigerian Film Corporation has been drawn to the purported passing of Dr. Ali Nuhu… and wishes to unambiguously inform the general public that the reports are false in their entirety. Dr. Nuhu is alive, well, and discharging the responsibilities of his office,” the statement read.

The NFC, which recalled that Nuhu was appointed by President Bola Tinubu in February 2024, warned that measures were being taken against those spreading the misinformation.

It also appreciated the concern shown by the public and stakeholders while urging Nigerians to disregard the false reports.
