The Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, has urged Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, and his supporters to remain law-abiding and avoid violence in the pursuit of their cause.
The monarch gave the advice on Wednesday while receiving Igboho and his followers at his palace in Owo, Ondo State.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Oba Ogunoye described Igboho as “a beacon of hope to his generation and future generations,” commending his resilience and leadership.
He assured him of continued royal support, stressing that sustainable development in the South-West can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and security.
Igboho, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the Olowo and other Yoruba traditional rulers for standing by him during his ordeals, particularly after the July 1, 2021, raid on his Soka residence in Ibadan by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), which left two people dead and 13 aides arrested.
He recalled that the encouragement and wise counsel from traditional rulers helped him endure difficult moments.
Igboho also recounted his struggles against repeated attacks by herders in the South-West, which he said had led to killings, rapes, and injuries among farmers.
