The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old suspect, Chidi Nwoye, for allegedly using master keys to steal vehicles and tricycles in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.
Police spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement on Monday that Nwoye was apprehended by operatives attached to the Isiowulu Police Division in collaboration with local vigilantes.
He was intercepted in the early hours of August 22 while operating a stolen tricycle along Minaj Road, Obosi.
Upon interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to using master keys to steal vehicles and tricycles from where they were parked.
Exhibits recovered from him include a Hyundai Tucson with registration number PH 725 AAA, a tricycle with registration number NSH 051 UD, eight mobile phones, four master keys, a vehicle tracking device, an ignition device for tricycles, ATM cards, a voter’s card, a driver’s license, and other personal items.
Ikenga said investigations have been extended to the suspect’s hideout for possible recovery of additional stolen items.
He urged members of the public whose property may have been stolen to visit Isiowulu Police Station for identification.
“The suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations,” the police spokesman added.
