Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has urged President Bola Tinubu to appoint ambassadors to strengthen Nigeria’s foreign relations and economic ties.
Kalu, who represents Abia North, said ambassadors are crucial to ensuring that the country fully benefits from the president’s international engagements.
In a video shared on his Facebook page, the former governor described Tinubu’s foreign trips as valuable to Nigeria and Africa’s economic growth but stressed that diplomatic follow-up was needed.
“The traveling of Tinubu is very good for our country and its economic development. He can’t just be president of Abuja.
Tinubu should deploy more diplomacy,” Kalu said.
He added that appointing ambassadors would consolidate the gains of the president’s diplomatic efforts across several countries.
More than two years into his administration, Tinubu is yet to appoint ambassadors.
