Armed bandits in the early hours of Tuesday abducted a man, his wife, and their daughter during an attack in Katsina metropolis.
The victims were identified as 33-year-old Anas Ahmed, his wife, Halimatu, and their daughter, Jidda.
The assailants stormed their residence in Filin Canada Quarters around 3 a.m., according to the police.
In the course of the attack, a 25-year-old local vigilante, Abdullahi Muhammad, was shot dead while attempting to resist the gunmen. The attackers fled the scene before security operatives arrived.
Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, said the Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, had visited the scene and ordered the deployment of additional personnel to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the arrest of the perpetrators.
The police urged residents to provide any useful information that could aid the investigation, assuring that all details would be treated with confidentiality
