Muhammad Garba, spokesman for former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has rejected allegations of financial misconduct against his principal, describing them as baseless and politically orchestrated.
In a statement issued, Garba accused the Kano State Government of deliberately attempting to smear Ganduje’s image by linking him to alleged misappropriation of funds, overspending by the Directorate of Protocol, and land grabbing.
Governor Abba Yusuf had alleged that Ganduje spent more than ₦20 billion through the Protocol Directorate between February and May 2023, shortly after the APC lost the governorship election to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Garba, a former Kano State Commissioner for Information, dismissed the claims, insisting that Ganduje’s administration was marked by integrity and transparency.
He said all expenditures were lawful, duly approved and consistent with the state’s budget.
“Governor Ganduje completed his tenure with diligence and transparency.
These allegations are false, politically charged, and aimed at distracting the public from real governance issues,” he stated.
On the issue of land administration, Garba maintained that Ganduje implemented policies to safeguard public assets and ensure lawful management.
He further highlighted programmes and structures introduced during Ganduje’s tenure as evidence of his accountability and service to the state.
He urged politicians and the media to stop using his principal’s name for propaganda, stressing that any genuine concerns should be addressed through appropriate legal channels.
“Dragging a former leader’s name into unfounded allegations is unjust,” Garba added.
