The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, has alleged that powerful interests are plotting against him following ongoing reforms in the oil and gas sector.

Ojulari, who spoke on Thursday when he received a delegation of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), said his life and that of members of the company’s management team were under threat.

He attributed the hostility to the changes introduced at the corporation, in line with the directive of President Bola Tinubu to revive the country’s dormant refineries.

The NNPCL boss disclosed that efforts were underway to restore the refineries to full operational capacity, noting that the management was considering adopting the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) model to achieve the target.

Despite the alleged threats, Ojulari maintained that he remained committed to implementing the reforms and ensuring stability in the oil sector.

Responding to concerns raised by PENGASSAN President, Comrade Festus Osifo, on the future of the company, Ojulari said the reforms were critical to repositioning NNPCL for efficiency.

“I am not hiding from anybody. I am not a politician. I will have to learn more about politics, but this is a development plan for me, and I am ready to learn,” he said.
