Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday presided over a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The session was attended by key governors, including AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara, who also chairs the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and Hope Uzodimma of Imo, who leads the Progressive Governors’ Forum.
Other governors present were Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Charles Soludo of Anambra, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Bassey Otu of Cross River, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo.
The Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), also participated in the deliberations.
The NEC, which is constitutionally chaired by the Vice President, serves as an advisory body to the President on matters concerning the nation’s economy, particularly revenue allocation, economic planning, and policy implementation.
Details of the discussions at the meeting are expected to be made public later.
