The Katsina State Government has approved the release of ₦20 million to each of the 34 local government areas for the renovation of cemeteries.
Governor Dikko Radda disclosed this on Thursday while receiving royal fathers from the Katsina and Daura Emirates at the Government House.
He described the initiative as both a service to the people and a means of seeking Allah’s blessings for the state.
The governor also unveiled a new welfare package for traditional rulers and religious leaders, noting that a law recently passed by the House of Assembly now guarantees District Heads salaries equivalent to Grade Level 16.
In addition, Radda announced that 6,652 ward heads across the state would receive monthly allowances, while more than 3,000 Imams and their deputies at Friday Mosques would be supported with stipends. Sweepers in Izala and Darika Mosques within the 34 councils are also to benefit from allowances.
On security, the governor reiterated that the fight against banditry and other criminal activities remained his administration’s top priority. He revealed that over 1,500 youths had been trained, equipped with uniforms, life jackets, and operational tools to assist security agencies in tackling insecurity.
“Security is a collective responsibility. We must unite to protect our people,” Radda urged, calling on traditional and community leaders to intensify awareness at the grassroots.
Earlier, the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruq-Umar, represented by the District Head of Baure, Alhaji Daha Umar-Farouq, reaffirmed the emirate’s solidarity with the governor, particularly following his recent car accident in Daura.
Also, the Wazirin Katsina, Senator Ibrahim Ida, who represented the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir-Usman, commended the administration for restoring dignity to traditional institutions and strengthening their roles in governance and community development.
He assured the governor of continued support through prayers and cooperation to sustain peace, unity, and prosperity across the state.
