Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed 12 fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in separate offensives across Borno and Yobe States.
A military source at Army Headquarters confirmed the development to journalists on Saturday in Abuja, noting that the operations were carried out between Friday and Saturday with support from local security forces and aerial surveillance.
The clearance operations targeted insurgent hideouts in Tamsu Ngamdu, Dalakaleri, and Gaza, with the fiercest exchange of gunfire recorded at Loskori Kura.
During the encounters, troops recovered eight AK-47 rifles, loaded magazines containing 7.62mm ammunition, and various drugs and medical supplies reportedly used by the terrorists.
The source described the success as evidence of renewed momentum in the military’s counter-insurgency campaign in the North-East.
Military authorities commended the troops’ resilience and directed the Theatre Command to sustain the offensive until all terrorist strongholds are dismantled.
