The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a car theft syndicate and recovered a stolen Toyota Hiace bus.
Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that operatives of the command’s tactical team in Isheri carried out the operation.
According to him, the case began on August 1 when a 31-year-old man was reported for suspected car theft. Detectives, using intelligence-driven strategies, tracked and arrested the principal suspect in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
“Further investigation led to the arrest of three accomplices — a 41-year-old businessman, a 45-year-old mechanic, and a 49-year-old car dealer — all apprehended in Kano State,” Hundeyin said.
He added that the stolen grey Toyota Hiace bus was also recovered in Kano.
The suspects, he said, will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
Hundeyin further noted that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, commended the operatives for their swift and coordinated response, assuring Lagos residents that the command would continue to deploy advanced policing strategies to combat vehicle theft and other crimes.
