The circumstances surrounding the death of former Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Ondo State, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, have taken a new twist following the circulation of a disturbing image of his corpse.

The viral photo, which showed visible bruises on his head, has raised questions about the true cause of his death and sparked widespread reactions among the public.

While the initial reports suggested he died at his Victoria Garden City residence in Lagos in the early hours of Wednesday, the image has triggered suspicion that his passing may not have been natural.

A social media influencer and rights activist based in Canada, Jimmy Adekanye, asserts that the bruising indicates he might have been attacked prior to his death.

He urged law enforcement to meticulously pursue the investigation to determine the actual cause of Akingboye’s death.

Security agencies have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, assuring that the matter will be examined thoroughly.

Akingboye, popularly known as OBA, died at the age of 60.
