Troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces have killed several bandits and recovered herds of cattle stolen during coordinated attacks in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.
Security sources said the armed groups raided villages around Atabo, Zoma, and adjoining communities, rustling livestock before attempting to flee towards neighbouring Zamfara State.
They were intercepted by airstrikes and ground forces, resulting in heavy casualties among the attackers and the recovery of the stolen animals.
On Tuesday, some surviving bandits reportedly tried to regroup and launch a counterattack to reclaim the seized cattle.
Troops, however, engaged them in another fierce encounter, neutralising several and thwarting their efforts.
