The Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, Tosin Olokun, has commiserated with the Nigeria Police Force and the families of three officers killed in an ambush along the Egbe–Okunran Road.
The slain officers, identified as Ibrahim Taiwo, Isah Yahuza, and Albert John, were attacked on Tuesday while on duty.
In a condolence statement issued on Wednesday, Mr Olokun described the victims as brave men who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, safeguarding lives and maintaining peace in Yagba West and the state at large.
He assured the bereaved families and the police command that the people of Yagba West share in their grief, stressing that the officers’ sacrifices would not be forgotten.
To forestall further security threats, Mr Olokun ordered all recently migrated herders to leave Yagba West within 24 hours.
He also pledged the council’s support for security agencies in bringing the perpetrators of the attack to justice.
The council boss prayed for the repose of the souls of the fallen officers and asked God to grant their families strength and comfort in their time of loss.
