The Adamawa State Police Command has rescued five children abducted from Maiduguri, Borno State, and taken to Mubi Local Government Area of Adamawa.

Police spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said in a statement on Sunday that the rescue followed swift action by the Area Commander of Mubi, ACP Marcos Mancha, who led a surveillance team to intercept the children on September 13, 2025.

The victims, identified as Adamu Musa (16), Suleiman Idris (10), Suleiman Mohammed (11), Dauda Yahaya (11), and Mohammed Alhassan (11), were all residents of Gwange, Maiduguri.

They were found wandering the streets of Mubi town before being taken into police custody.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the children were abducted by one Aliga Suleiman of Sabon Layi, Gwange, Maiduguri, who is currently at large. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect.

Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, commended the Mubi police team for their swift response and directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case.

He also assured that the children would be reunited with their parents while investigations continue.

This latest operation comes barely a month after the Adamawa Police Command rescued 14 abducted children being trafficked to Anambra State.

Security officials say Adamawa has become a transit route for traffickers due to its porous borders and proximity to insurgency-hit Borno.

The police reiterated their commitment to intensifying surveillance across the state to combat child trafficking and abduction.
