JUST IN: Rivers Assembly sends message to Gov Fubara

The Rivers State House of Assembly on Thursday called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara to immediately forward the names of commissioner-nominees for screening and confirmation.

The demand came as lawmakers reconvened in Port Harcourt for their first plenary session since the six-month suspension of legislative activities, which followed the emergency rule imposed on the state earlier this year.

The sitting took place at the Conference Hall of the Legislative Quarters along Aba Road. During proceedings, the Assembly commended President Bola Tinubu for lifting the emergency rule and restoring democratic governance in the state.

Members also pledged to abide by agreements reached with stakeholders aimed at sustaining peace and stability across Rivers.

Governor Fubara, his deputy, and the Assembly are resuming duties in line with the presidential directive issued on Wednesday.
