The Oyo State Police Command said its stop-and-search operations have led to the recovery of suspected human flesh and an abandoned vehicle in Ibadan.
According to the Command, the discoveries were made on Wednesday around 11:30 a.m. during routine patrols along the Toll Gate axis of the Ibadan expressway.
A statement on the Command’s official X handle read: “A Federal Highway Patrol team intercepted a white bus with registration number XA 551 IRG, leading to the arrest of one occupant, identified as Alfa Basiru, who was found in possession of suspected human flesh. The suspect claimed to have purchased the substance in Lagos. He has since been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, for further interrogation. The suspected item is undergoing forensic analysis to determine its authenticity and source.
“In a separate case, operatives flagged down a Toyota Camry with registration number LSD 957 JX during a routine search. The driver, however, abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. The car has been taken into custody by the Command. Members of the public with legitimate claims to the vehicle are urged to come forward with verifiable documents and contact the Police Command via +234 808 176 8614”.
The Command stressed that the stop-and-search operations were not mere theatrics but deliberate efforts to secure lives and property across the state.
It urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies, assuring that it would sustain measures aimed at curbing crime and making Oyo safer for all.
