Muslim and Christian clerics on Friday offered prayers at the coronation of former Oyo State Governor, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The coronation rites took place at the Ose Meji Temple in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area.
Earlier in the day, Ladoja had received the traditional Akoko leaf at the Labosinde Compound, Oja’ba, Ibadan, in line with Ibadan customs.
The new Olubadan is expected to be formally presented with the staff and instrument of office by Governor Seyi Makinde at Mapo Hall.
The historic Mapo Hall is already agog as indigenes and dignitaries troop in for the event.
Traditional rulers, prominent sons and daughters of Ibadan, as well as political leaders are among those expected at the grand ceremony.
The coronation marks the beginning of Ladoja’s reign as the 44th Olubadan, a position steeped in rich Yoruba heritage and tradition.
