The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, has accused the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, of plotting to harm him by setting him up with his former Canadian wife.
In a video posted on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, the monarch claimed that the arrangement was part of a wider plot to conceal his role in Oba Ogunwusi’s emergence as the Ooni of Ife several years ago.
Explaining the alleged feud between them, Oba Akanbi said Ooni Ogunwusi’s actions were driven by an attempt to silence him permanently.
“People hear me talking about Ooni Adeyeye, what you don’t know, I will tell you today. I helped Ooni Adeyeye, but because he is holding to the Orisas (deities) but God has placed me above all the Orisas.
“As a kingmaker or somebody that helped the king to become the king that I was, he doesn’t want me to say the story in the future, he was looking for my downfall. The next thing, he packaged a woman, there’s a woman he packaged for me. It was a set-up.
“There was a woman that was packaged for me, I don’t know her from Canada. They were talking to her in my own house; they were setting me up with videos, setting me up with many things.
“She would be asking me questions in my room, my ex-wife. This supposed wife, it was them that sent her to me; they were communicating with her. She was there for three (3) years. She had a child, which I don’t even know if he’s even my child now. I have to confirm that through DNA because she poisoned me twice, they set up assassination attempts but they failed.
“After I found out the secret and I kicked this woman out of my house, it was this Ooni Adewusi Enitan Ogunwusi, ask him, what was the woman doing with him in the hotel? I won’t mention that hotel.
“He’s the one that rented an apartment for her and the child.
“You now say I’m talking. As a Yoruba man, a woman that was set up to kill you and did not succeed, what would you do? They cannot kill me. Sango cannot kill me because he’s my father. He’s my forefather and a child must be greater than the father,” the Iwo monarch claimed in the video.
The Oluwo further declared that traditional Yoruba deities would not harm him.
“They’re our forefathers and they won’t be killing their children. Sango and Ogun are not criminals, they don’t kill, it is only the Almighty God that knows when somebody will die,” he stated.
Oba Akanbi also dismissed any notion of suspension by the Ooni, maintaining that no paramount ruler could suspend another.
“They said Ooni can suspend me. Can Ooni suspend me as a paramount ruler? Paramount ruler will suspend another paramount ruler! Is he older than me or greater than me with position? Even if they place all of us from the first to third positions in Osun, it’s because they can’t just put all of us on the first position,” the Iwo monarch added.
