The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested three suspected child traffickers, a drug supplier linked to bandits, and a suspected arms dealer in separate operations across the state.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Thursday, noting that the operations were based on credible intelligence.
He said police operatives on Monday intercepted a man identified as Franklin Ozo, of Danmagaji, Zaria, with large quantities of Exol tablets worth millions of naira.
Investigations revealed that the drugs were meant for delivery to Kidandan and Giwa, where they were to be supplied to bandits. Ozo is currently in custody as investigations continue.
Hassan also disclosed that on September 22, operatives apprehended a suspected child trafficker, Khadija Ibrahim, in the Narayi area of Kaduna.
She was found in possession of a boy later identified as Abdulmumin.
Her arrest led to the capture of two accomplices, Daniel Samuel of Narayi and Danjuma Makoshi, and the rescue of another victim, five-year-old Ibrahim Bilyaminu from Gusau, Zamfara State.
The rescued children are under police protection while investigations continue to trace the wider trafficking network.
In a separate operation in Giwa Local Government Area, police detectives arrested a suspected arms dealer, Alhaji Sani, popularly called “Dan Gude,” in Doka Ilu village. Recovered from him were one fabricated AK-47 rifle, two rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition, and an AK-47 magazine.
Hassan added that on Tuesday, operatives also recovered 60 cattle and 25 sheep earlier rustled, following a sustained community policing initiative. The livestock have since been returned to their rightful owner.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling child trafficking, drug peddling, and illegal arms proliferation, warning that criminals will face the full weight of the law.
