The Kebbi State Police Command says its operatives, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have killed three suspected bandits during a joint operation in Gorun Yamma village, Dandi Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Friday in Birnin Kebbi.

He said the Divisional Police Officer in Kamba, Muhammed Bello, acting on credible intelligence, led a team of security personnel to the area, where they engaged the armed bandits in a fierce gun duel that lasted several hours.

Abubakar explained that the encounter led to the death of three suspected members of the Lakurawa gang, while others fled into the forest with gunshot wounds.

He added that an unregistered vehicle was recovered from the scene, along with several weapons abandoned by the fleeing suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the operatives for their bravery and urged them to sustain the offensive against criminal elements.

He assured residents of the command’s determination to rid Kebbi State of banditry and other forms of violent crime.
