The management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has urged students and members of its community to remain indoors from 9:00 p.m. daily following reports of possible security threats in the area.
The advisory was contained in an internal memo dated October 7, 2027, and signed by the Registrar, R. I. Adebayo, on behalf of the institution’s management.
According to the memo, the decision followed intelligence reports suggesting the presence of suspected Fulani herdsmen around Iree and its neighbouring communities, which could pose potential danger to lives and property.
“The entire Polytechnic community, especially students, are hereby advised to stay indoors anytime from 9:00 p.m. in Iree and its environs,” the statement read in part.
It added that the alert was issued to ensure safety and maintain vigilance following credible intelligence from within the community.
The management also advised students to limit nighttime movements and promptly report any suspicious activities to the institution’s Chief Security Officer via 07033166585 or 07034557451 for immediate assistance.
