The Kwara State Police Command has debunked reports circulating on social media alleging that a female police officer serving in the state was kidnapped and killed.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, described the story as “entirely false and deeply distressing,” urging the public to desist from spreading unverified information capable of causing panic.
“The command wishes to state unequivocally that this report is not only false but also misleading, with the intent to cause unnecessary alarm in the state,” the statement read in part. “There is no record of any female police officer missing or abducted in any division within Kwara State.”
Ejire-Adeyemi also dismissed claims that the purported incident occurred in a police division named Ogidi, clarifying that no such division exists in the state.
She described the viral post as a deliberate attempt to misinform the public.
She assured residents that the Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Adekunbi Ojo, remains fully committed to safeguarding lives and property, maintaining public peace, and ensuring transparency in its operations.
