PDP shifts 103rd NEC meeting, gives reason

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed its 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting earlier scheduled to hold on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

The party announced the postponement in a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

According to the statement, the decision followed deliberations at an emergency meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) held in Abuja.

Ologunagba explained that the move became necessary due to “recent developments in the party,” adding that a new date would be announced soon.

He said, “Distinguished members of the National Executive Committee may recall that the 103rd NEC meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

However, in view of recent developments in the party, the National Working Committee, in exercise of its powers pursuant to Section 29 (2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), has approved the postponement of the meeting to a new date that will be communicated in due course.”

The party urged all NEC members to take note of the change and await further communication from the national secretariat.

The postponement comes amid growing internal tension following a wave of defections by key members to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed confidence that the party will overcome its current challenges.

Mohammed insisted that no amount of political defection or external interference would derail preparations for the party’s National Convention, scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, from November 15 to 16.
