Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has reportedly resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to reports by Arise Television, Diri defected alongside 23 members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.

The development comes less than 24 hours after Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, also left the PDP for the APC.

While official confirmation from the governor or his media team is still awaited, sources suggest that a formal declaration of the move may take place in the coming days.

“The governor joined the ruling APC alongside 23 members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly,” Arise TV reported.

The reported defection adds to a growing wave of political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several federal and state lawmakers switching allegiance to the APC in recent weeks.
