The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, identified as Oyewole Adamolekun, for allegedly engaging in a prolonged incestuous relationship with his biological daughter, aged 15, which resulted in pregnancy.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, the incident occurred in Taye Village, Lafa 2, Ajue area of the state.
The case was reported on October 8, 2025, by one Mr. Julius Olusola, a resident of the same community, who alleged that the suspect had been having unlawful sexual intercourse with his daughter since she was three years old.
Police operatives attached to the Enu-Owa Divisional Headquarters arrested the suspect following the report.
The victim was immediately taken to a hospital, where an ultrasound examination confirmed that she was 19 weeks and two days pregnant.
During interrogation, Adamolekun reportedly confessed to the crime. The statement noted that he is currently in police custody, while the case has been transferred to the Command’s Gender Desk for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, condemned the act, describing it as both criminal and morally reprehensible.
He reaffirmed the command’s zero-tolerance stance toward sexual abuse, especially cases involving minors, and assured that justice would be pursued diligently.
Lawal commended the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his commitment to police reforms and the protection of vulnerable persons across the country.
He said the IGP’s emphasis on accountability and professionalism has strengthened the ability of commands nationwide to tackle gender-based violence.
The Commissioner urged residents of Ondo State to remain vigilant and report any cases of abuse or suspicious behavior to the nearest police station, assuring that the command remains committed to protecting the rights and safety of all residents.
