Senator Ned Nwoko has addressed the controversy surrounding a viral video showing his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, in distress, alleging that her recent behaviour was influenced by drug and alcohol abuse.
In a post shared on his Instagram handle, @princenednwoko, on Sunday, the senator claimed that the actress was battling substance abuse, which he said had strained their marriage.
Nwoko wrote that Regina’s current condition was “not how she used to be,” stressing that her struggle with drugs and alcohol had become the root of their marital problems.
He said, “Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drug and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation programme, or I fear for her life and safety.”
The lawmaker further alleged that the actress recently went on a violent rampage at their residence in his absence, attacking domestic staff and destroying property.
According to him, “She slapped and hit three staff members in the past 48 hours and destroyed property, including cars and windows, for no just cause. Now she has moved to a place where she will have unrestricted access to drugs.”
Nwoko said he had offered his wife two rehabilitation options — one in Asokoro and another in Jordan — to help her overcome the alleged addiction.
He also accused some of Regina’s associates of worsening the situation by supplying her with drugs.
He alleged, “While I took Moon to the hospital, a scene of chaos unfolded at home, orchestrated by Sammy, Regina’s main drug supplier. Another known supplier of drugs to Regina is the tiny evil devil called Ann.”
His statement came hours after a video of the actress — visibly agitated and shouting during a confrontation — went viral on Saturday, sparking public concern.
In the footage, Regina could be heard saying, “In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house, I am a queen. Not again. I can’t stand the violence; it’s too much.”
Reacting to the incident, Regina’s brother, Ojeogwu Samuel Danhillman, popularly known as Sammy West, accused the senator of assaulting his sister and vowed to defend her.
He wrote on Instagram, “Anywhere a man beats a woman, whether it’s my sister or not, I’ll fight with my blood.”
As of press time, Regina Daniels or her representatives had yet to respond to Nwoko’s claims.
The actress and politician married in 2019, a union that has continued to attract public attention due to their age difference and social prominence.
