The Ondo State Government has urged residents to remain calm and vigilant following the circulation of a leaked security memo warning of a possible terrorist attack in parts of the state.

The leaked document, reportedly issued by the State Security Service (SSS) to the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Akure, had raised public concern after it surfaced in the media earlier this week.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, said the memo was part of routine intelligence sharing among security agencies and not an indication of an imminent attack.

According to Ajanaku, such reports are a normal feature of security operations designed to assess potential threats and coordinate proactive measures among relevant agencies.

“The leaked memo is one of the regular intelligence reports shared between security agencies and the government to enhance vigilance and ensure the safety of lives and property,” he explained.

He assured that the state government, under Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, was working closely with security operatives to prevent any possible threat, especially in border communities.

“The public can be assured that these reports are being acted upon and necessary precautions have been taken.

We urge residents to remain calm, go about their normal activities, and report any suspicious movement to security agencies,” Ajanaku said.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining Ondo’s status as one of the safest states in the country and appealed to residents to avoid panic or any act capable of causing unrest.
