Residents of Ibom Isii community in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State on Wednesday paraded a woman identified as Mrs. Chinelo, wife of a former traditional ruler of the area, for allegedly burying charms in a compound.
According to witnesses, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. when the woman was reportedly caught in the act.
Her arrest sparked outrage among villagers, who accused her of engaging in fetish practices.
In videos shared on social media, Mrs. Chinelo—dressed in a red wrapper and walking barefoot—was seen being paraded through several villages by a large crowd of residents singing and playing local instruments.
She was also seen carrying a plate said to contain the alleged charms.
Community sources claimed that the woman had previously been sent away from her husband’s home over allegations of infidelity.
After the parade, she was reportedly handed over to the elders of the community to explain her actions.
While some villagers claimed she confessed to the act, others maintained that the elders would determine her guilt or innocence after further questioning.
Throughout the procession, the ex-monarch’s wife appeared calm and silent, clutching the plate said to contain the charms.
