The Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Olajide Ipinsagba, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident that claimed several lives in Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
In a statement issued on Thursday night, Senator Ipinsagba described the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy that had once again thrown the Akungba community and students of Adekunle Ajasin University into mourning.
“My heart is heavy tonight.
The tragic accident that claimed several lives in Akungba-Akoko has shaken me deeply. It is one of those moments when words fail, when grief speaks louder than language,” he said.
The lawmaker, while condoling with the bereaved families, said no tragedy cuts deeper than one that could have been prevented.
He urged urgent measures to ensure safety along the Akungba-Ikare road, which he described as a “corridor of tears.”
Ipinsagba commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for initiating the dualisation of the Akungba–Ikare road, describing it as a long-term solution to recurring accidents in the area.
“At this difficult hour, my thoughts and prayers are with every bereaved family.
May God grant them the strength to bear the loss and may the souls of the departed find peace,” the statement added.
He reaffirmed his solidarity with the Akungba community, the victims’ families, and the people of Ondo North during what he called “a dark and painful moment.”
