Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, reportedly collapsed while in custody at Kuje Prison, Abuja.
Ejimakor, who was arrested earlier in the week alongside 12 others, was said to have been rushed to the Kuje Medical Centre, where he is currently receiving treatment.
One of Kanu’s lawyers, Maxwell Opara, confirmed the development to DAILY POST on Saturday.
“Yes, I went to see him and he was admitted at Kuje Medical Centre where they are treating him. I left there a few hours ago,” Opara said.
According to Daily Post, he explained that the incident occurred before his arrival at the facility around noon. “As one of his colleagues, I insisted on seeing him. They eventually took me to where he was being treated. I also saw Sowore and others before that,” Opara added.
The Special Counsel and others, including Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, were arrested on Monday during a protest in Abuja demanding the release of the IPOB leader.
They were later arraigned before the Magistrate Court in Kuje by the Nigeria Police Force.
