President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to screen and confirm his newly appointed service chiefs.
The request was conveyed in a letter read during Tuesday’s plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
According to the letter, the nominees include General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General Waheedi Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral Idi Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff; Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke as Chief of Air Staff; and Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
After reading the letter, Akpabio referred the nominees to the Committee of the Whole for screening and confirmation next week.
The development follows President Tinubu’s closed-door meeting with the new service chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday.
