A 42-year-old man, Emmanuel Egbosimba, has been remanded in custody by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly abusing his teenage daughter over a five-year period.

The suspect was charged following an investigation by the Lagos State Police Command after a report was made by the victim.

Police Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the alleged offences occurred between 2020 and 2025 at the family’s residence in Ejigbo, Lagos.

According to the prosecution, the alleged acts began after the death of the defendant’s wife and continued for several years until the matter was reported to authorities.

Ademigbuji informed the court that the offences contravened provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which stipulates strict penalties for such violations.

Chief Magistrate L. A. Owolabi did not take the defendant’s plea and ordered that he be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The case was adjourned to November 17, 2025, for further mention.
