A 20-year-old man, Jibrin Saidu Lamido, has been killed in what police described as a violent altercation linked to a love affair in Gurdadi village, Yusufari Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Monday when the deceased visited his girlfriend, 22-year-old Saratu Gata, in nearby Kalameri village.

According to eyewitness accounts, another man arrived at the scene, took the woman away, and allegedly challenged Jibrin to follow them “if he was truly a man.”

The confrontation turned violent, and the suspect reportedly attacked Jibrin with a cutlass, inflicting deep wounds to his neck.

Operatives from the Kumaganam Police Outstation responded swiftly and rushed the victim to the General Hospital, Kumaganam, where he was confirmed dead by a medical officer.

His body was later released to his family for burial after an autopsy.

Police authorities in Yobe confirmed the incident, adding that a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
