Natasha, Akpabio mend fences as Senate President gets invitation to Kogi project launch

There are strong indications that the rift between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central and Senate President Godswill Akpabio may have been resolved, following her invitation to the Senate leadership and colleagues for a series of project inaugurations in Kogi State next week.

As reported by Leadership, the invitation, personally signed by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, was read aloud by Senator Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary session.

In the letter, the Kogi lawmaker invited her colleagues to Ihima, Kogi State, on Sunday for the commissioning of constituency projects marking her second year in office.

Part of the letter read: “In marking my second-year anniversary as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite my distinguished colleagues to join me for the commissioning of projects in Kogi State.”

According to the letter, the meeting point for the event is her residence at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, Kogi State, while Senators travelling by air are to land at the Obajana Airstrip before proceeding to the venue by road.

Apparently pleased with the gesture, the Senate President congratulated Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan in advance after reading her letter, saying, “Congratulations in advance.”

The development comes months after both lawmakers clashed over the reallocation of seats in the Senate chamber, a disagreement that led to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension on March 6, 2025.

Since her reinstatement on September 24, the Senator has resumed active participation in plenary sessions and maintained cordial relations with the Senate leadership.

Her latest invitation is now being interpreted as a sign that the once-tense relationship between the two senators has been fully restored.
