Operatives of the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos, have arrested six suspected armed robbers in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, shortly after they allegedly carried out a robbery operation in Lagos.
The suspects, identified as Shola, Pelumi, Gbenga, Zacchaeus, Tunde, and Saheed, were apprehended by officers of the Dragon Team on the directive of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, Adegoke Fayoade.
Confirming the arrests, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Umma Ayuba, said the operation was based on credible intelligence that led to the swift interception of the suspects.
“The arrests followed a series of complaints received by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, prompting the deployment of the Dragon Team to investigate, track, and apprehend the perpetrators,” Ayuba stated.
According to her, the breakthrough occurred on October 5, 2025, around 10 p.m., when operatives tracked the suspects to their hideout in Ijebu Ode. During the raid, two locally made pistols, 30 live cartridges, and a wine-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number KNN 383 BU were recovered.
Ayuba added that the AIG commended residents for their cooperation with security agencies, assuring the public of the police’s determination to sustain peace and safety across Lagos and Ogun States.
She further urged citizens to remain vigilant and provide credible information to help the police combat crime and protect lives and property.
