Tension has gripped Anwule community in Oglewu, Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State following a deadly attack by suspected armed herdsmen.
As reported by Daily Post, several villagers were reportedly killed, while many others are missing after the assailants stormed the area on Monday, targeting farmers working on their farmlands.
Witnesses said the attackers, armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons, descended on the villagers without warning, leaving trails of blood and destruction.
The invasion has forced scores of residents to flee their homes, seeking refuge in nearby communities to escape further violence.
At the time of filing this report, the exact number of casualties could not be confirmed, as security operatives were yet to reach the affected area.
Meanwhile, tension remains high in the community as search and rescue efforts continue for the missing villagers.
