Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have rescued a woman from her abductors and arrested four suspects following a quick response to a distress alert in Akure, the state capital.
This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal. The statement, with reference number AZ:5280/ONS/PPRO/VOL.1/328, said the operation took place on November 4, 2025.
According to the police, a concerned citizen had raised an alarm that four young men driving an unregistered Toyota Camry had forcefully taken a woman and were heading towards the Shoprite Roundabout in Akure. Officers immediately acted on the tip-off, blocked the vehicle’s path, rescued the victim and arrested the suspects.
The abducted lady, identified as Adebayo Oluwaseun, was reportedly seized along Weluwelu Street, Ilekun, Oda, and was being moved to an undisclosed location before police intervention. The car used for the operation was recovered and the suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue.
CP Lawal commended his operatives for their professionalism and swift action. He also applauded the resident who provided timely information that aided the rescue.
He stressed that such collaboration between citizens and security agencies remains crucial in tackling crime and maintaining peace in the state. The Commissioner further credited the success to the strategic policing approach of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, assuring residents of continued vigilance and safety.
