Former Senator representing Abia North, Mao Ohuabunwa, has been named factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT).
His emergence followed the dissolution of the Adolphus Wabara-led BoT by a faction loyal to the party’s Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Abdulrahman Muhammad.
The development was contained in a communiqué issued on Friday after an emergency meeting of the newly reconstituted BoT in Abuja.
The communiqué stated that Isah Dansidi was also elected as Secretary, replacing Senator Ahmed Makarfi.
It explained that Wabara and Makarfi were removed for allegedly compromising their neutrality by taking public positions in the ongoing party crisis.
“The Board unanimously approved the election of Senator Mao Ohuabunwa and Hon. Isah Dansidi as Chairman and Secretary of the newly constituted Board of Trustees, respectively,” the communiqué said.
The new BoT reaffirmed that the PDP remains “one indivisible, united, and democratic family committed to justice, equity, and progress.”
On the planned national convention, the BoT backed its postponement pending the determination of the appeal against the Federal High Court judgment.
It maintained that the Federal High Court’s decision “remains superior in law to the interim order of the Oyo State High Court,” urging restraint until the appellate court delivers its verdict.
