The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and ex-Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, wanted over alleged financial crimes.
The anti-graft agency made the announcement in a public notice posted on its official X handle on Monday.
According to the notice, Sylva, 61, is wanted in connection with an alleged case of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of $14,859,257, said to be part of funds invested by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) into Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the construction of a refinery.
The EFCC said the warrant for his arrest was issued by the Lagos State High Court on November 6, 2025.
The statement described Sylva as a native of Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
It urged anyone with useful information about his whereabouts to contact any of the Commission’s offices nationwide, or reach out via 08093322644, [email protected], or through the nearest police station or security agency.
Sylva, who served as Bayelsa Governor between 2007 and 2012, was also Minister of State for Petroleum Resources under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
