A suspected car thief has reportedly broken into the Kano State Government House and stolen a Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to the convoy of the Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam.

The audacious theft, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, has left security officials within the Government House rattled.

According to findings, the suspect gained entry into the heavily guarded premises around 5 a.m. through Gate 4 and later drove out through the main gate without being stopped.

Sources within the Government House told DAILY NIGERIAN that CCTV footage captured the entire incident, showing how the suspect calmly started the vehicle and drove it out of the compound.

One of the sources said, “The vehicle was part of the deputy governor’s convoy. Security around his office complex is usually active only during working hours or when he is on the premises.”

It was further learnt that the driver of the missing Hilux, identified as Shafiu Sharp-Sharp, was arrested and interrogated as part of ongoing investigations.

“An internal investigation is underway. The driver is being questioned, while the Chief Security Officer is reviewing the CCTV recordings to identify the suspect,” another source disclosed.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State Government had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
