The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, has dismissed claims suggesting cracks within the legislature’s leadership, insisting that the assembly remains cohesive and focused.
Oladiji, in a statement issued joinn Thursday night by his Special Adviser on Media, Akinjolie Akintayo, described as baseless the allegations reportedly made by the lawmaker representing Ifedore Constituency, Temitope Komolafe.
“The attention of the Ondo State House of Assembly has been drawn to a statement credited to Barr. Temitope Komolafe… wherein he made unfounded allegations about the leadership of the House.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Assembly wishes to state unequivocally that there is no division or crisis within its ranks under the able leadership of Speaker Olamide Oladiji Adesanmi,” the statement said.
It added that the legislature remains united, focused, and committed to fulfilling its constitutional mandate to the people of the state.
The assembly, however, expressed regret that Komolafe—whom it accused of repeatedly failing to meet the statutory attendance required of a lawmaker—had resorted to making allegations “from afar.”
According to the statement, effective representation requires presence, participation and meaningful contribution to legislative business, duties it claimed Komolafe had “grossly neglected.”
The Assembly further urged the lawmaker, whom it described as an “expatriate legislator” operating from outside the country, to refrain from issuing misleading statements and present any evidence he may have to support his claims.
“The leadership of the Ondo State House of Assembly remains resolute in upholding the integrity of the legislature and will not be distracted by unfounded allegations,” it added.
