The Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday expelled several prominent members, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, and the party’s 2023 governorship candidate in Imo State, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, for alleged anti-party activities.
The decision was taken at the party’s 2025 National Convention holding in Ibadan, Oyo State, and was ratified by a large majority of delegates in attendance.
Also expelled were Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Kamaldeen Ajibade; Austin Nwachukwu; and a number of other party figures.
In a statement released on its official social media platforms, the PDP described the move as part of efforts to “restore unity, discipline, and focus ahead of the 2027 general elections.”
“The decision, which was promptly ratified by an overwhelming majority of delegates, underscores the party’s commitment to eradicating internal divisions and anti-party conduct that have hindered its progress,” the statement added.
