The Adamawa State Police Command has announced the reopening of a 2023 acid attack case after renewed public outrage and emotional appeals from victims and concerned citizens.

The attack, which left three people including Miss Eve Usman Kwala, with severe injuries, was initially reported two years ago.

However, no arrests were made during the first round of investigation, according to a statement posted on the Command’s official Facebook page.

The police said rising public concern and media reports have prompted a fresh probe aimed at identifying the perpetrators and ensuring justice for the victims.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigations to immediately re-examine the case.

He ordered a full review of the original case file, the gathering of all available human and material evidence, and the inclusion of any new leads that may emerge.

The statement noted that officers have also been instructed to trace and investigate all individuals linked directly or indirectly to the attack.

The Command appealed to members of the public to provide any useful information that could aid the investigation, assuring that all disclosures will be treated with utmost confidentiality.

It added that the police remain committed to ensuring justice and preventing such incidents from being overlooked.
